Reframing Black Identity
Beyond stereotype.

Connecting Communities
Across backgrounds.

Celebrating African Culture
Culture in everyday life.
Building visibility, belonging, and opportunity in Hong Kong.
Africa Center Hong Kong was founded to address a real gap: African and ethnically diverse communities in Hong Kong are often underrepresented, misunderstood, or left out of meaningful opportunities.
ACHK responds by combining culture, youth support, education, and community-building in one space. Its work helps challenge stereotypes, strengthen belonging, and create pathways for children, youth, students, and families.
More than a cultural centre, ACHK is a platform for connection, confidence, and long-term growth.
Supporting children early, and strengthening families through community.
ACHK runs welcoming, family-oriented programs that support children’s early development, confidence, and cultural belonging in safe, joyful environments.
These include playgroup activities, African Kidz Club, children’s book clubs, summer camps, and homework support. Through learning, play, reading, and shared participation, children build social skills, self-esteem, and a stronger sense of connection.
By working with both children and parents, these programs help create lasting support around the family as a whole.
Creating space for young people to connect, explore, and grow.
ACHK supports youth and students through programs that encourage self-discovery, peer connection, practical learning, and leadership development.
Activities include youth clubs, African Students’ Night, mentorship, wellness support, and hands-on initiatives such as Hackers Club. These spaces allow young people to build confidence, share experiences, and navigate education and life in Hong Kong with stronger support.
For many participants, ACHK is not just a program provider, but a place where they feel recognised, encouraged, and part of a wider community.
Using culture to bring people together across backgrounds.
ACHK creates public and community-based events that make African cultures more visible and more accessible in Hong Kong.
Its activities include literature book clubs, film discussion nights, language classes, world board games nights, music and choral activities, and other shared cultural experiences. These programs invite both African and non-African participants into dialogue, learning, and community exchange.
Rather than presenting culture as something distant or static, ACHK makes it lived, participatory, and connected to everyday community life.
Turning ambition into skills, access, and opportunity.
ACHK helps young people prepare for the future through practical support in education, career development, and entrepreneurship.
This work includes career workshops, guest speakers, CV and interview support, internship opportunities, and consultation for African-owned businesses and emerging entrepreneurs. Participants gain access not only to knowledge and skills, but also to networks, encouragement, and real pathways forward.
By linking aspiration with preparation, ACHK helps people move from potential to action.
Working with others to expand reach and deepen impact.
ACHK collaborates with schools, universities, corporates, NGOs, churches, community groups, and other local partners to deliver programs, co-create events, and reach more participants across Hong Kong.
These partnerships strengthen community engagement in practical ways: they bring in volunteers, guest speakers, mentors, collaborators, and audiences; they also open more routes for families, students, and young people to take part.
Whether through attending events, joining programs, volunteering, or partnering on initiatives, community involvement is central to how ACHK grows its impact.
